NEW YORK CHAPTER COMMITTEES Listed below are our service (or task-based) commmittees. These committee
perform functions vital to the operation of the Chapter: publicizing
events, publishing our newsletter, maintaing the website, and being
active in local advocacy issues. If you are looking for one our our
committees which caters to a particular discipline please visit our Interest
Groups page. ADVOCACY If you’re a newshound, reading and discussing issues that impact
artists, wanting to do **something** to effect change, but not sure
where to begin… we have the starting point for you. Right here
on this committee! You can help identify, educate, and advocate local,
municipal, statewide and national political issues that are important
to NY Chapter members. Bring your passion and awareness to light by
building publicity, lobbying, planning and hosting annual Guild-wide
public affairs events. We’re looking for a co-chair. Get empowered.
Sign up and take the lead! MEMBERSHIP We discuss and plan events and activities that help meet membership needs, as well as grow the organization! We attend (for free) Chapter evening events and speak with non-members about joining the Guild. We also help coordinate and staff industry trade shows (i.e. Macworld), and develop alliances with other organizations. You’ll reap many benefits by joining this group and helping to grow the Guild – networking opportunities for your own business, free admission to various events and shows, free food and drink, to name just a few NEWSLETTER Our quarterly newsletter The Update has become a professional, informative, eye-appealing resource for members and non-members, thanks to the Newsletter Committee. Help us keep up the good, and interesting, work. They meet the third Tuesday of each month and coordinate laying out copy and art submitted by NY Chapter members. You can also help brainstorm ways to market Update to local vendors to get advertisers. If the last Newsletter Committee you were on was in college (or even high school), jump back into the water! We think you’ll have an even better time – less peer pressure and better snacks!!!
